1 Month, No Meat

Recently I looked back on my New Year’s Resolution post

from a few days into this year and realized that out of the four resolutions I explicitly stated, I have not really accomplished any of them.  I have done work towards two of them, but the other two I would say are a failure as of now.

My main resolution was to drop weight and keep it off.  I started this year around 210 pounds, have gotten down to about 197, an am currently about 206.  Needless to say, that is not keeping it off.

In an effort to do this, I’ve built a goal-tracking calendar in Excel to keep me motivated with weight.  I’ve also realized I need to develop a steady gym routine.  Throughout the year, I’ve had stretches weeks long of rigorous gym trips (5-6 times per week) as well as virtual gym non-existence (0-1 times per week).  4-5 times per week is acceptable.

I’ve also recently decided to not eat meat.  This includes beef, pork, & chicken.  I will continue to eat fish and other seafood.  I’m also completely cutting out dairy, and will rely on a minimum of two protein shakes a day.  If I feel more energetic and this aids in my weight loss, I’m considering permanently updating my diet to consume no meat.  It’s something I’ve thought about doing for a while, and I figure the best way is to try it out.  Can’t knock it until you try it.
